I love this band. My favorite record is democracy. They had an excellent evolution as a band and amazing tribal rhythms. My fave track on this album is "Pilgramage" but I can't find any video footage. This one will do.
Man, I love what I know of Killing Joke. I remember when I was a young 'un and heard Metallica covering "The Wait." That was actually kind of a pivotal moment for my adolescent metalhead brain.
I don't have nearly enough Killing Joke in my collection. Gotta remedy that!
i know they are doing dates in euro this year but whether they come back to the states is uncertain and dare i say...doubtful... geordie's guitar style is so smooth and unlike anyone else...he just floors me.
I have been a Metallica fan since I was a pre-teen, and I loved the cover of The Wait (especially those fucking cool bass fills Jason rolls out) but Killing Joke didn't actually grab me until a few years ago, despite repeated attempts. One night I was coming home from band practice, threw on the S/T as a "wtf why not?" and it just fucking clicked so hard for whatever reason. I had picked up a couple copies of the S/T LP over the years and the second album as well, and just fucking went crazy for them.
I really dig Extremities too, while I was busy absorbing the early stuff and navigating their huge discography I never investigated the new stuff, but tonight I'm spinning a copy of MMXII and just fucking losing my mind over it.
I missed them, too much going on and could not get away for it. Really hoping they manage to not kill each other long enough to do it again.
