Oh man, I just found a Hummingbird II on eBay with a current highest bid of $53 and 11 hours to go on the auction. And this after finding a Whammy for $120 yesterday! I've had some seriously good luck with this stuff recently.

I'd say. Welcome to the boards fellow RVAtor. Whammy pedals have gone down recently, but that Morpheus Bomber is where it's at for me.

i have the Boss TR-2. when i went out looking for trem pedals i was really surprised at how good it sounded compared to the more expensive options, and was able to find one for cheap at the local buy/sell music emporium. my TR-2 doesn't have the volume drop problem, and does the basic tremolo functions just fine. at some point i may upgrade because i'd like more options for waveforms and that brick-like Boss pedal profile is a pain in the ass for board layout, but it's a low priority; i'd be more likely to rehouse it in a 125 box and true-bypass it.

my favorite thing to do with tremolo nowadays is set up delays on either side and pick so the attacks fall between the tremolo pulses, which creates a wonderful 1970s sequenced-synth kind of sound; it's particularly nice if you have modulating delay before the trem.

+1 for the EHX Stereo Pulsar. If you just want a straight-up trem that can deliver a few necessary options at a reasonable price, you can't beat the Pulsar. The square wave sounds almost identical to the trem in my old 50's Gibson GA40T amp and it sounded GREAT thru my old Peavey Classic 50, when I was rocking some Bo Diddly tunes. Also, like all EHX effects, it can get crazy when you max out the settings, to the point where it can sound pretty raunchy and ringmod-esque.

If your pedalboard is completely flat and crammed like mine, yes. If it's not up front at the edge, it's kinda impossible. I have such a hate/tolerate/kinda like relationship with Boss.

I second this!
