jrmy wrote:Tom / MLC - have you tried the big Upper with modulation in the loop instead of (or in addition to) fuzz? Howzabout delay-ay-ay-ay? Howsabout that there Ring Stanner you got, MLC?

:joy: That's the name of the game! The Upper makes it easy to create your ideal octave fuzz (using fuzzes you already have)!

Yeah, it works nicely with non-fuzz, overdrive. Since the pedal in the loop provides the volume control (when protoing, I found the Upper stacks/blends into pedals better without its own dedicated Level), some guys will probably just throw a clean boost in the loop for live use.

From what I have read, it should be just awesome. Out of all the bass friendly pedals in the FH line the first stage of the PA seems to have a general agreement of working well.

I just want to slam this son of a bitch into my ECT and blow shit up.

Phantom Octave...

Ah,but Egon Spangler has vanquished the Phantom Octave. It's latest incarnation is Mode 2 of the Phantom Ring/Arcade. See,there's also that smooth,dark-ish fuzz(which on my Phantom Arcade) is engaged via toggle. But yeah, ultimately a Phantom Octave with an effects loop is what I was driving at. However, the Upper should be enough to tide us over until Tom comes up with another neat creation.

Anytime, G. Do what needs to be done!

And for anyone else:

I might as well ask here since it looks like at least one of you (MLC) has used the damn thing...

So putting the Upper BEFORE a fuzzbox, in this case let's say the Algal Bloom, will not have the same effect as putting it through the loop, right? I suppose I don't understand the difference between putting the pedal in the loop as opposed to putting it after the Upper in the normal signal chain. I guess the loop is to highlight the "add an octave-up to any fuzz" feature... and that is why there is a loop, as opposed to just putting the fuzz after the Upper.

Also, if I have a small board, i.e. guitar > (tuner) > Algal Bloom > uhhhh... Hoof > amp... if I wanted to use the Upper with the two pedals, would I put them both in the loop and then just keep the loop on all the time since the A.B. is my main fuzz sound? So in actuality the signal would go guitar > tuner > Upper > amp?
