i'm gas free meself. in fact i'm moving in the opposite direction, (that show hoarders has seriously fuct with me) i have way too much shit and need to downsize big time. i just don't know where to start as i have emotional attachment to everything (like all the hoarders). i'll go grab a guitar out of my lock up and just gush over all the gig memories..remember the big scratch from where i tripped over my pedalboard...or dinged the headstock on a drumkit. all that stoppit shite.
i think a lack of gas is good...it just leaves music. of coarse the wayne kramer strat i'm gas'in for doesn't count, as i just want to hang it on my wall in my pop art room.

Totally agree, I've had it subside for awhile, convincing myself that I have the perfect setup and simply don't need anything else, but it always comes creeping back. Best thing you could do for yourself is stay off gear forums. That OP is like announcing you no longer have a crack addiction while sitting in a crack house with your crack dealer and a bunch of crack heads.
