Re: blahhh... OD is not for me.
I have a friend who told me a Fuzz is the same as an OD which is the same as a distortion.
He also told me that Post-Rock isn't a genre of music.

I like dirty boosts to boost fuzz and some times ampz but yeah OD has never worked for me well
Every now and then I pull one out and like the sound on it's own but with band
Fuzz sits in the mix better for me.

Maybe that's why I don't like then as much as some of you... I only use clean amps, for the most part and use my boxes for dirt, unless I'm going for a particular dirty amp sound ie: Orange, Marshall, etc.
I prefer amp distortion and then use ODs to shape the end result.
For a clean amp setup, I'd really recommend stacking a few ODs with each setup as a lo gain OD.
Dirt loves dirt, you should try and take your clean amp and dial it in just a little dirty. Then hit it with a dirt box or two and see the difference. It might get ya closer to a sound you were looking for. If not, well you know that route is not for you

I love overdrive for just a little extra meds and grit. Overdrive=my sound. I also love it after fuzz, pure awesome.

I have, but it just wasn't cutting it for me. Awesome nonetheless, but just not for me.

Re: blahhh... OD is not for me.
I tend to use boxes on either side of "overdrive," either a Mellowtone Hi Five set to just push the edge of breakup or one of two "distortion" boxes--my beloved 70s MXR Distortion+ or a 3xfx Fatman--set to sound like amps on the verge of meltdown. i use fairly small amps most of the time, so i can get my moderate overdrive from the amp. i've always always always hated Tube Screamers and their ilk...they've always sounded tinny, noisy, and unpleasant to me. there are some overdrives around that i like, such as the Hipster, Singing Tree, and Fairfield Barbershop, but for me overdrives are kind of like tablet computers: a product that sits squarely in between two applications i can use while meeting the requirements of neither.
i've found it better to run the D+/Fatman after the fuzz array; the higher gain of the fuzz amplifies the noise of the rest of the chain more, so i've found it best to arrange the fuzz sequence from highest-gain to lowest.

I don't know if there's something fishy with the pedal but it weirds me out...... like it's got one of those alien chestbusters growing in it or something........ A/B'd to the Muff I find I really love the sound of an overdriven amp though, which has just made me want to buy another OD....... I'm thinking a White Light or a Barbershop.........
i think this is normal; my typical D+ settings are Output 2:00-2:30/Distortion 11:00, which gives me unity gain and a wicked Neil Young tweed-Fender-amp breakup.

Re: blahhh... OD is not for me.
the only overdrive pedal you should need is the channel switcher for your amp.

Re: blahhh... OD is not for me.
No worries man. I guess I can see how someone wouldn't be that in to overdrive, but it does have good applications, like boosting fuzz and making your amp sound dirty(especially tubes). But if you're into fuzzier stuff, I guess it's kind of useless.
