BLACKOUT EFFECTORS, HIRING in 2011.

In the near future, Ross (build manager and awesome brother) will be leaving us for the humid, mosquito-y embrace of North Florida. Ross has come to be an essential piece of the Blackout puzzle being my only full-time employee among the several part-timers and since essentially taking over 75% of the actual building process - freeing me up to run shit more often. It's going to be sad days at Blackout without him, but they have a new baby and family duties beckon, etc.

Sob story aside, over the next few months we'll be goin' through them changes. I'm faced with the dilemma of trying to find a full-time replacement or restructuring the position for several specialized part-timers and possibly even some freelancers. That may end up being the same person or it might not. It may need to be 2 distinct job positions, or more.

But instead of following the normal order of writing out a job description and then trying to fit a person to that description I've decided to gamble on the universe proving that following the opposite order could be valid as well. Essentially, I want to try to fit a position to a person instead, provided the right people find us out.

So, if you...
1. Want to work at Blackout Effectors.
2. Live in or are open to moving to the Asheville, NC area (some moving expenses may be supplemented depending on situation).
3. Aren't too much of an asshole or are charming enough to get away with it.
4. Possibly have some schooling or some experience, whether professional or are just an enthusiastic DIY-er (like I was).
5. Have above all an interest in what we're doing and want to learn, teach and suckle from it's teets – essentially be fully invested in the work.
...you should seek me out with a resume and cover letter. I may just create a position around you.

#3 makes me lol

I have zero experience in making effects, but I am a therapist. So now you know who to call when Blackout needs a full time employee assistance program :excellent:

We're up in the mountains in Asheville. At this elevation it stays fairly cool, at least in comparison to surrounding areas.

Well, if you'd stayed in Vancouver I'd be your man... providing your pedal production process needed some DNA sequenced that is.
I suck at soldering, but I'm pretty good at genomics :D

Wait a few more years untill I finish my Theoretical Physics and I'm sure that'll make me of use in the pedal business somehow. converting Bose-Einstein condensation to some form of endless looper?

Seriously though that is an awesome chance and I love how it's posted here on ILF. Someone is going to be one lucke guy/gal
