OD Shootout (EQD, new klon, etc...)

Post by hclapp219 »

So the same people who did the boutique delay shootout a few months just made an OD shootout as well. I lent them my EQD White Light OD for the video, which you can see at about 7:30.

They used the bridge pickup a tele into a two rock. For the White Light, I would have cranked the weight knob more than they did for a really bright pick up like a tele bridge, but that's just me.

It also shows the new Klon at about 16:45.

New klon sounds a lot better than the old ones...I wonder what settings were used.

The Basic Audio was my favorite I think, the kalamazoo kinda has me curious as well (and of course the Tim/Screwdriver but those are on my board for a reason  )

That 808 was the first boutique distortion I wanted. Somehow after going through the webs I stumbled upon their website and I was certain I was going to get one of those things...then I couldn't find anywhere to play so I got the OCD.

I think the thing that can be different is the feel. I have a Coopersonic Tube Overdrive and it feels way different than the non-tube drives.

Totally. Feel is the most important factor for me.
Well that and a snazzy graphic.

Why is it a big deal if the aesthetics of the new klon aren't sorted out? It's not like the klon's graphic is a work of art, or its knob layout could really be anything that radical... :whateva:

They all sounded similar. You could just muck with yer amp's eq to change a lot. And I don't think that's askin' too much, because most people leave overdrives on. At least I do... :idk:

They aren't a big deal to most people, but think of the target audience of the Klon (tgp). There would be endless debate and bitching if the graphics ended up being slightly different or the layout changed or the knobs were a slightly different shade of vermilion. So I really don't blame him for not showing the final product until it is final.

Nice video, thanks for posting it here.

I'm not a big fan of the Klon.
My personal favorite in this vids are: Crowther Hotcake and Lovepedal Kanji Eternity.

Cool. That Caroline Wave pedal looked cool. And year I had a hard time picking out big differences.
