My Fuzz Quest: Input needed.

I am trying to put together my ultimate fuzz line-up. Right now I am running a Coopersonic Twin Tube Overdrive as my main overdrive pedal. I am happy with this. I generally like my dirt to be a bit on the raw side so I have a penchant for fuzz.

Right now I have a Dice Works Muff Diver which pretty much completely satisfies my need for muff style fuzz. This is a keeper.

I have just ordered a Trombetta Bone Machine which I am hoping will satisfy my need for a modern out of the box fuzz.

I've got a Death by Audio Interstellar Overdriver Supreme which may stay. Has a number of settings that I like but it may be time for a change. I definitely do not like the overdrive more than that of my Coopersonic.

I have a Fuzzhugger Snowflake which is the same as the Penny Pedals Fingerprint circuit that was all the rage for a while. Seems nice - - - may stay,may not....the Fingerprint seems like something that is decent but was way overhyped for a while.

I've also had a Germanium B:Assmaster that I thought I liked a lot but didn't find myself using all that much so I sold it. I had a Devi Ever White Spider that I sold as well. I didn't quite bond with it.

Had the Eau Claire Thunder and it was nice but already had the Dice Works which I liked better. Box was too large and didn't need the various feedback switches and tuning.

Still have the Syle Singularity and I like some of the sounds that can be gotten out of it but it is too big, too many knobs, too hard to dial in, etc.

I think I am fine with the Muff and I like the idea of the Bone Machine.

I guess something I would really like to find that I haven't got yet is a sort of raw ancient fuzz...some Ur-fuzz howling from dark realms of the ancient days of fuzz....crawling from the psychedelic muck under the boulder of the shrine to the Gods of whatever garage Valhalla represents all that is pure and good in rock. Any ideas on this one?

I'd bet going down this fuzz path for you will begin a journey. At some point, you've gotta say: "I like it, so I'm stickin' wit it."

With that said, I'd check out a Basic Audio Scarab, Gnarly or any of his other vintage fuzzes. Never tried any of them but would really like to. I can get all of my gated, squelchy, velcroy, bloomy, psych 60's sounds from my 4545, so I try to remain satisfied and not enter the long haul that is "vintage fuzzes."

Just ordered it today so it will probably be close to two months before I get it.

Ah. Man, I even went to the lengths of asking Paul to trade my Fuzz Probe for one, but he thought it was a joke, so I let him think that.

The pedal seems unstoppable. The fuzz goes from really amazing TGP'r status, to ridiculous an insane tones. The octave down sounds are great and it seems to be two pedals in one.

What Mr. Basic Audio says about the zippy:
"The circuit is pretty much just a couple of transistors run wide open.
The treble/fizz is kept in check in a couple places so it doesn't get
too hissy or oscillate. The second stage is really pinched so that's
where all the zippery stuff comes into play. Not much under the hood
parts count wise. Simple + better!"

Did you not like the Merkin, thats the only thing I can think of...that isn't really costly.
