As long as you have 2 cabs with matching impedance, you can run those outs to any speaker combination you can come up with. I see people disregard the impedance issue all the time though, and I've never seen an amp blow up yet, however it's generally not recommended. Does sound better when everything is matched up though.

Yes, what's your budget. I would look into (obviously) used stuff, SWR makes great stuff, so does acoustic, but not Ampeg, their speaker cabinets (that you'd look at) are meh, unless you get an 8x10 spend your money elsewhere.

Depends what you're looking for. I have a early 90s Ampeg 8x10, and it's the best cabinet I've ever heard (guitar included!) If you can get your hands on any sort of Ampeg cab US made, DO IT! :thumb: :thumb:
I think the magic is in the build. Eight 32 ohm speakers, all totaling to a 4 ohm cab, such a clear crisp signal with tons of low end.

I also have a 2x10 Acoustic with neo speakers. This is great if you want all the top end. I, myself, find these speakers a little too bright. Light as a darn feather though :hello:

For a guitar/bass mix, I think a 4x12 should cover all your bases well. That's what a lot of people used back in the day. Good focus, good low end. Stay away from 15" if you plan on using it for guitar.

(but the cream of the crop is the 8x10, I love that thing. )

Are the pre-Recto Boogie 412's, particularly the EV-loaded ones, any good for bass? You can often find them as affordable as a garden-variety Marshall 412 used. They're built like bunkers and weigh like it, which is a huge part of why they often go cheap. And they're more power handling than most people need for guitar, but that's to the good for bass use.

I had one of those sunns a few years back and blew one of the 15's in my bassman, had the other side going to a 2x10. Don't remember how I set it up...twas my early gear days.

& I use guitar through 15's with fine results
