RRR questions

Post by Monkeyboard »

Before threadjacking the other thread too much I figured I'd start this one so 2 questions before the RRR becomes THE reverb to get to fill the void on my board

1. How well does it do a very over the top deep long sound? As was said in the other thread I was in doubt between an RRR and a Cathedral with the Cathedral appealing to my surfey/shoegazey whatever side with it's super long decay times. Now I've heard the RRR go pretty deep but how many good sounds are their to be found in the deep spectrum?

2. How well does it handle a daisy-chain? It says it doesn't like to be chained on the Doc Sci site but my one-spot only has a few pedals connected up to it and a fuel tank or pedal power does not seem doable in the near future. So if it is really THAT bad I might have to give up on one for a while..

Thanks in advance guys!

I think there will be noise issues if daisy chained. I will soon have a more ambienty demo up of the RRR.

Edit: Here you go.

Great demo, really enjoyed it!

Monkeyman, the RRR goes fully wet but it doesn't have super long decay times. The longest are the hall settings with the toggle to the right... it's about 8 seconds of decay from an impulse. I'd really like it for to have longer or even infinite decay possible and it's something I'll experiment with for the fuller featured version but as right now I don't really have a plan of attack or anything yet.

As for daisy chaining, that's a complicated one and it's something hard to predict. Some people daisy chain all day with no problems and some people can't even get away with 2 pedals sharing a supply. Digital pedals are notoriously noisy when daisy chained but I'd say it's kind of a 50/50.

And hey, 2 days late for your b-day is no big whoop.. I frequently take longer than that to answer emails anyway ;)

The fuller featured RRR... man, I don't know when that sucker is gonna be ready. I'm nearly ready to get cracking on it again, The Tremolessence is so close to finished, The Elements is ready for its first pcb proto, and those events were to signal the return of my attention to the bigberator.

I could see myself having it designed within the next couple/few months but the production of it is something that worries me as it's going to be so expensive and require such a big chunk of money to get going. It's something we'll kind of have to play by ear but there's just no way it'll be ready before fall/winter at the earliest but realistically I don't know if we'll get it made in 2011. It depends on how the Tremolessence and the Elements go I guess, how quickly, easily, and financially capably we're able to do those things will be a factor on the bigberator's time frame.

Geeeez, a lot of words to basically say.. I don't know. Maybe this year, we'll know more months from now. Sorry!

You could always just make a way higher gain prototype and just send it my way, that'd be okay with me..
