LOOKING FOR A NEW REVERB

Post by lizardville »

I have had an EH holy grail for the last years and with that pedal and the one included in th DRRI I was feeling kind of satisfy with my reverb sound .
But I'm on the outlook for something a little more adventurous...and that could do classic tones too.

What do you guys recommend ??.

Thanks..

I don't have one myself (though I do GAS for them), but I hear great things about the Dr. Scientist Reverberator & Miniberator.
I'm more like a mids-ist than a bassist.

Tech 21 RVB boost is a great option if you're looking for a classic sound. I love mine. I always tinker about selling it to get a RRR or Wet, but seriously the tone knob and boost functions are killer' and it sounds really good.

The wet is the single best sounding reverb I've ever tried. The D. Sci RRR is close but in a small package nothing beats the wet imo.

It looks like Dr. Scientist is a good contender..

Is there any differences between the mini and the full size sound wise?

as far as I know it is just a smaller foot print. The RRR is an amazing box, that I still lust for.

+1 on The Tech 21 boost RVB I have the the old black one so no trails  , but still it is really versatile and sounds awesome with fuzz.

Nother miniRRR user. Awesome verb. Only other verbs i use are octo and particle on my m9.

The awesome thing about the rrr is that it has a built in boost. This works really well after your dirt if you want to boost it, even mix off it's still a great boost.

I have a question since I'm divided on the subject.

The RRR sounds nicer from what I've heard but the Cathedral seems like it can do more things and among other things a better long digitally verb.

I would buy an ILF pedal over an EHX any day of the week though so has anybody got a brilliant RRR demo to convince me?

I own the mini-rrr and have played the cathedral in the local guitar store. My experience was that the cathedral was basically all the ambience+reverb+delay in one stomp, in other words it was very over the top. It could probably be tamed, but I think it would be best for simulating your guitar playing at the bottom of a well, in the bottom of the sea, bouncing off canyon walls on the moon.

The mini-rrr is great all around, pretty simple in layout, but everything is as advertised. It's a radical red reverberator and I love it

Which is why I'm more tilted towards the RRR but I like the whole over the top ambience as well. How deep can the RRR go?
