Loop-a-Day Project

Post by wdinc01 »

Hey guys, I don't post on here too often, mostly just hang out in the classifieds. But I figured that some of you may be interested in my Loop-a-Day Project. Its basically the 365 Project you see on Facebook, where someone is supposed to take a picture and write a journal entry each day. I decided to do my own spin and instead record a loop each day.

I decided to save you all from the wall of text that I posted on Facebook, but basically I went bass > ODB-3 > DD-3 (hold mode) > Boomerang III > computer.

Thanks man. Also, you can find this thread on TalkBass here:
http://www.talkbass.com/forum/showthread.php?t=732140

I give a thorough explanation about what I did to get the sound I got. Like I said, its kind of boring, but I enjoy reading technical stuff like that.

Here's the loop for today:

http://soundcloud.com/jaymesromanofski/ ... ry-19-2011

I made it using the Devi Ever Cherry Pop, the Earthquaker Grand Orbiter and the DD-3 (and the Boomgerang III, of course). The first loop was made with all three pedals, with the dry signal off on the Grand Orbiter and the depth knob turned down and the rate up. This was then put into the DD-3 on a short delay time so that it adds more tone. The second loop was just the DD-3 and the Cherry Pop, with the middle knob turned totally clockwise to get that gated, octavey down kind of tone.

I was trying to replicate some ring mod-ish kind of stuff, because I really want one now. Hope you all enjoy!

Edit: Forgot to mention that I used my bass for this (will probably be using the bass for the first few) into my Rumble 15, then used the headphone out on the amp as opposed to micing it. I was trying to be quiet this time.

January 20th, 2011:

The clicking noise was made with the DD-3 and the loop set really short. The second part of it is some power chords going into the TAFM and Grand Orbiter, then the loop set in reverse

I realize I suck because I haven't stuck to what I set out to do. Not to point fingers, but I've been with my girlfriend for the weekend and its pretty difficult to get any free time to make loops. But I've made one tonight! I've also made a Tumblr to post this stuff on, because I feel its the best place to put this on.

[soundcloud]http://soundcloud.com/jaymesromanofski/track-1-006[/soundcloud]

Made with a piccolo bass, DD-3, Grand Orbiter, and the reverse function of the Boomgerang.
