Splatter Caster style... It'd look cool if the rest of the guitar wasn't "Splattered" but the pick-guard was...

david gilmour did it.
That's quite good looking as well, even with the white plastic parts.
Hrm...I guess I'll need to look into mint and gold guards. I seriously dig the look of both.

You haven't seen an aged white pearloid on a black Jaguar then.

The perfect opportunity..... whatever pick guard you get buy it, and before you assemble it to the guitar shoot it with a gun...... people will be like "whoa that dudes playing is so bad ass some crazy nut job tried to shoot him with a gun while he was soloing" and then they'll look at you with wonder and whimsy in their eyes, and you'll look back with the stare of a man who pretends he's been shot at with a handgun.... don't worry I'll never tell.......... your mysterious secret............

guys, call me crazy, but i would stay away from a metal pickguard (the gold anodized e.g.) at guitars with the pickups attached to it (strat). I had bad experieces tonal wise an my strat. It killed resonance. That being said, i did not have these experiences on my jazzmasters (both have gold anodized pickguards). But here the pickups are screwed in the body...

Huh, I've always heard the opposite, that metal pickguards increase resonance and sustain. But I have no personal experience with them, and I kind of assumed that was just mojo bullshit anyway.
Regardless, I think mint green is the way to go. It's a good classy, timeless look. And pearloid pickguards are almost always tacky looking, in my opinion.

i think people just don't like the (pretty much true) fact that metal is more resonant than wood. for example; compare badass bridges to warwick bridges. badass have huge mass to them relative to the warwick bridges which is where warwick gets their woody thumpy sound. MEC pickups paired with the tiny bridge makes for the sound, whereas with badass bridges, trabens, and other guitars with larger bridges, you get a bit of a more ballsy high-mid-y (imo) tone. its not a huge difference, but I did notice a difference when I installed the bigsby on Grace.
so its part metal has a different sound, and part said different sound is more in tune to frequencies we notice, i guess.
