Crimson Drive

Post by AnxSnd »

Doesn't appear that there's been a thread on it here.
I came across one on ebay and it came in today.

Sounds mighty good... gritty boost/od bordering on fuzz.
BUT - mine seems to have a prominent amount of background hiss when engaged. Seems to get louder with increase in the level knob. It's not that noticeable while playing, but soon as you stop there it is = hssssssss

Not sure if it's just an issue with this one i got or if anyone else encountered this.
Jamie - maybe there's an easy fix for this. Any input you have would be appreciated.

Otherwise using/enjoying all my other EQD (Hummingbird, Hoof, Orbiter)

mine does that if powering it with an adapter/daisy chain, but is noiseless with a battery. best OD ever, too.
my chi is directly proportionate to my good times and rad adventures

Yeah, it really doesn't work too nice with a power supply. Part of the reason it was discontinued. A battery is still kind of noisy but not nearly as bad.

thanks for the input, guys. good to know.

i'll try it with battery.... it's still usable with power supply, so long as yr playing dirty music. which of course is what you'd be doin' with it anyhow. just have to watch if there's any delay or vibe/modulation after it (not good with Pareiodolia after it, for example). But i'm pretty sure i'll keep it.

tried it with battery last night... definitely less hiss.

only issue is the enclosure is so small that it's very difficult to fit a 9volt in there and secure all 4 screws back in.
