I just wanted to post and spread my love of Fairfield Circuitry! Not only do Guillame Fairfield's pedals look better than most pedals I've seen, but they all sound incredible. The barbershop OD is one of the best low gain (if not straight up) overdrives I've ever encountered, it remains transparent while adding the perfect amount of grit. The Randy's Revenge Ring Mod (Discontinued for now ) sounds absolutely gorgeous... better (and more musical) than the Moogerfooger Ring Mod IMHO. The Four Eyes Fuzz is dirty in the best possible way, not to mention it sports a voltage controlled multimode filter with resonance control (I'm a synth guy, so this makes me happy ). Have yet to try the Operator!?, but given the quality of the other effects in the product line, I can only assume the best. I'm anxiously awaiting the release of The Unpleasant Suprise...

If any of you ILFer's out there haven't looked into this company do yourself a favor, and BUY EVERYTHING THEY MAKE!

I would really like to try out a barber shop, and I'm sure you'll be hard pressed to find more than a few people here who wouldn't love to have a randys revenge.

what happened to the randy's revenge? it sounds great, but it is a bit pricey for ring mod...wonder if the price point of making it sorta killed it from the start.

I talked to Guillame, and he said that the Randy's Revenge will return, but that it's going to undergo a redesign to bring down the price point and make servicing the pedal easier. I absolutely love mine, the sound is gorgeous, and the LPF makes it more usable than a lot of ring mods I've used in the past.

Also, Harpies... not to derail my own thread but what's the deal with this PLL clone I saw you repping? I actually own the first schumann lion fuzz, but couldn't afford the PLL, despite it being very drool worthy

I've said all I really know about it, other than me being excited it is coming out finally and the guy's name, and I really just didn't want to mention his name b/c I figured if I did, he would be getting way too many quiestions to stay focused on getting them done. This is most excellent news. I've lusted after a Randy's Revenge ever since hearing clips, but the price point has definitely felt steep. I look forward to seeing what he can do with it...

the Four Eyes is one of the few remaining fuzzes i'm dying to get my hands on; if i wasn't out of work it would be mine, bwaa ha haaaa. i even entered the FC Christmas giveaway in hopes of winnning one, but that shit never works for me. i also love the sound of the RR, and am glad to hear it may be revised with a price drop; it's great, but i just can't see paying the same for it as a Moogerfooger when the Moog does more.

Guillaume is a great builder! He seems to be a very nice person too, I emailed him to show a couple of things I did with the 4Eyes and he replied very nicely.

I absolutely love my 4Eyes, it is a defining element of my drone band. And i think the design is very smart - it is amazing how many sounds you can get out of it while on the other hand it definitely retains its own character.

I like pairing my Moogerfooger with a LP Filter too so I guess I would love that feature on the RR. Good to hear it will be back.

That being said, the Barbershop is the best overdrive I've ever played/owned. It's a perfect no-frills pedal, and the Sag knob makes the pedal go from like nice gritty overdrive to a fun 60's-ish T.Rex kind of fuzzdrive. I love it.

I REALLY want a Barbershop Overdrive - I'm sorely tempted at the local boutique pedal/awesome shoppe downtown. If they financed things I'm sure I would have bought one by now. Check out this amazing review from one of the shops in town:

Fairfield Circuitry Barbershop Overdrive
Every once in a while amidst the throngs of pedal manufacturers who contact me, one or two products fly under the radar in terms of being out there and in your face. Enter Fairfield circuitry. Last week, I was innocently standing there holding up the counter when I received a very unassuming phone call from Guillaume Fairfield, owner/operator/designer/self-confessed pedal geek. We arranged a meeting for the following week and got together to talk shop. I got a chance to check out some cool “top secret” projects that he had coming down the pike. A very cool overdrive pedal called the Barbershop Overdrive highlighted the visit. It seems like one can get lost in a sea of dirt boxes, but when I plugged this one in, the amp exploded into classic SRV/Eric Johnson/Eric Clapton tones. I can’t just sluff it off as a Tube Screamer clone or any other clone for that matter. This pedal totally has its own mojo/voodoo going on. The sound was rich yet nasty, complex yet elegantly simple and the way it reacted to volume knob changes made me think I just plugged into a Marshall JTM 45 that had been juiced by our own John Fletcher. The pedal features a true bypass design with a Drive, Sag, and Volume. The coolest feature is the Sag control. It pretty much does what it implies in that when cranked, the overdrive gets loose and has a “power amp meltdown” feel to it. With a more minimal setting, the overdrive is a little tighter, yet still retains a very cool roundness to the overall tone. It even works well on bass as a pre-D.I. Input to a board to warm up the sound and add tube like dynamics. In a nutshell, this very industrial looking box rendered us speechless. You have to give Guillaume credit for his unassuming sales skills by plugging me in and then leaving the room for me to get all gushy over the pedal. If you’re looking to get the classic sound of a Bassman/Vibrolux/JTM 45 amp going into Beelzebub heat territory yet retaining a somewhat “PG” rated volume level then this is your pedal. Consequently, if you’re looking for a killer overdrive pedal for your “reach out and hurt someone” rig then this is your pedal. Either way, this is one of the coolest overdrive pedals that I’ve plugged into this year. So will that be a little off the sides, a mullet or shall we do a full faux-hawk?
