misses the point by so much that it crashes into a Caribbean island thinking it's reached India. makes the Joe Strummer Telecaster look authentic. and the MC5 weren't even a very good band.

.. "good" or not is in the ears of the beholder (this is art...remember????) but they were very important and influential ....as odd as this guitar is, it's extremely kool that fender is even doing a wayne kramer strat. same with the joe strummer tele. it's not like joe was a "great" guitarist. it's nice that they are given some sort of props in this thankless world of pop music. it'd be awesome if gibson did a johnny thunders LP TV jr. ... or a james williamson LP custom...but they wouldn't/won't.
i didn't say they sucked. i think they had a great sound; they just didn't have any material, and consequently never made any records that mattered other than as influences on other artists. it says something, i think, that for just about every other seminal precursor to punk the typical music enthusiast can remember and sing a line or two of a great song (hell, the Stooges have a dozen), but hardly anyone remembers a note of MC5 other than "kick out the jams...yeah."
