What do you like about these things? What doesn't work so hot?

they are pretty deep. read the whole manual to get an idea. its a synthesizer, sampler, multifx, midi controller, drum machine.
DJ's use it as FX or sampler. you can make lots of weird noises and resample/rerecord. then you can FSU again and rerecord. as some point you load up the 4 part sampler and jam out. record it as a song. then jam over it and rerecord it again. its endless.

I think I am not clear on what exactly the fundamental difference between the two is....they both will process and sample...so what do they do that is different from each other?

the kaossilator is synth voices and drum beats. the kp3 is mostly effects.

i have and use the mini versions of both. i really like em...the kaossilator blew me away...i thought it would be kinda cheapy but its actually really nice. u can make some dope loops in no time. the touch pad really allows for expression for variation of the loops.
the FX on the KP are really nice too. i'm really diggin the granular looping fx's..major glitchyness w/ touch pad expression?? how can u go wrong?

I have a kaossilator (mini, not pro) and a kp3.
the kaossilator is great.
the kp3 has a lot of things about it that bug me so I don't use it much; at this point, I'm basically only using it to record phrases from other sources.
honestly, I think the minis are easier and more fun to use - you just can't save your work, so you'll need some other way to save your loops.

Re: Who is using a Kaoss Pad KP3 or Kaossilator Pro?
Alright... I've got the Kaoss Mixer, a K 2 and a KP3... I have used the Kaossilators... The difference like said above is that the Kaoss Pads are EFX units with some built in synth sounds and beats that Sample too... The Kaossilator doesn't really effect as it's a sound and beat generator that samples too... I really like everything they've done with the KP3, the sampling is way better and there are a few new effects... The Kaoss Mixer is my favorite cause of the sampler and crossfader which is real nice... It was the first with four sample banks... The KP2 has great effects but only two sample pads that aren't so great... I can make hella noise with all three and Brian Eno uses several Kaoss pads going through each other to make ambient tunes... I have the KP2 going into the KP3 as an effect chain on the Aux send and return on my mixer... I can run any thing through them, sample them go back through re effect and re sample and make huge loops and drones in seconds... The Kaossilators can be used to play the on board synth, instrument, drum sounds and make little loops to then play over... I could go on and on but, what are you thinking about doing with them? Holla and I'll let you know what you needs to be knowing...
