What's up with the Germanium 4 Big Muff

Post by Gunner Recall »

It's been out for a while but I haven't heard much about it.
I got a sweetwater giftcard for $100 so it's looking kinda tempting :animal:

I want one, I think it's really cool and potentially replace two fuzzes, I'd get it and try it out, need I say it B/S/T thread is there for a reason, although you wouldn't want to spend your money on sometign you'd just end up selling

From what I've heard it's not really a fuzz at all (but that's kinda splitting hairs).
It's the germ OD and a single side of the double muff with extra controls (the volt seems to get it that awesome exploding amp fuzz sound).

I was at a guitar store with some friends and one asks me what he should get. I pointed out the germanium big muff... and he goes "overdrive and distortion? aren't those the same thing?"

the EHX germy OD sounded pretty good to me so this has potential to be just as good and then some. I'm looking forward to try it out when it stops being sold out in the local shop... :)

100 bucks is pretty cheap for a dual pedal OD/Dist which sounds pretty spanking. Not too fuzzy but with the distortion cascading into the OD things should get pretty wild.

If you end up not liking it EHX pedals hold their value well so you'd have trouble losing more than 2 or 3 tenners on it. :idk:

I don't know - I haven't tried it, but I haven't seen the most stellar reviews on them.

Worst case scenario is that you have to flip it. :idk:

I think a lot of people get peeved when they plug it in and realize it isn't a big muff...not sure why they decided on that name when it's really a muff fuzz/germ od in series and nothing like the big muff pi.

I'll sit on the giftcard until it comes back in stock, but for $100 it can't be THAT bad  I think I'll dig it

Hi,
I got one, I'm using it these days as main disto and I can say it's a really good pedal,
dirty vintage tones but with more punch and cuts better thru the mix than average fuzz pedals,
using both sides at once increases the volume a lot.
I'm pretty satisfied with it for the moment.
Here's a demo I made for bass (not using amp, just a clean amp emulation):

Cheers
