The Strat inputs kill it for me.

New Info:

The Jaguar has the same pickups that the Jagmaster has - Duncan Designed HB102s. I predict the Jagmaster disappearing quite soon, as the Jaguar is nearly identical in terms of specs, and the price will likely be in the same area.

The Jazzmaster's pickups are also Duncan Designed - perhaps similar to the BT Jazzmaster's neck pickup?

Top mount bridges and concentric pots on both. Alder bodies, accurate scale lengths.

The Stacked knobs are cool, the input jack is tolerable, but I'd prefer it where it should/usually be/is, I'd get the "blonde' switch out the pickups

I actually don't mind the bridges. They're cool in a sort of Toronado/Duo-Sonic way.

I agree on the BSB though. It looks great on a Jazzy. It almost reminds me of Telemasters. With a custom pickguard you could have yourself a pretty cool Telemaster, which would make the Strat input fit a little better. Still not perfect, but less out of place than on a straight JM.

Yeah, just not quite there. They don't do the right routing (JM trem tailpiece) and then they do an additional wrong route that the pickguard doesn't cover. WTF? It's kind of silly that the jack is screwing it up, but it is. I'd rather an on-guard jack and minimal controls. I can tolerate the lack of a trem route because at least it isn't the wrong routed and I could get it routed in the right place.

It's really a shame since that JM finish is otherwise pretty.

This may be a stupid question, but is there really anything that special about the standard JM tremolo compared to Strat style? I've only ever played Jazzmasters/Jaguars/Mustangs etc. in stores, meaning no whammy bar attached.

I'm gonna jump on board with the "Strat input was a poor decision" group. Also, the bridge is kind of weirding me out a little.
I'll stick with my Blacktop and keep an eye out for an older MIJ.

I kinda like everything about the Jazz except the dumb Strat input jack. Looks horrible and made more work for themselves building them (vs mounting everything on the pickguard and dropping it in). I kinda wish the switch was on the lower body, but whatever. Butterscotch looks good, maple fretboard looks aces.

That "Jaguar HH" abomination bothers me on so many levels I cannot put it into words.
