It's an intrestign concept, but I think that's why we have pedals, right?

I wonder if you could model farts? Wouldn't that sound rad through fuzz!

Anal Audio's 100 watt Fart-Verb sounds great with my TAFM.

Re: Meet the most stupid idea I've heard of in quite a while
I bet this is a thing of the future. It's like that ProTools amp modeler. Could you imagine if this technology keeps getting better?
Think of it from an AUDIO ENGINEER's standpoint... "Hey Mr. Engineer, I want my guitar to sound just like Sweetband on their first record"
He has all of Sweetband's discography on this amp box.
It's obviously not better than the amp itself. But think about all the bass DIs and things those have done. Tech21 SansAmp and now VT Bass, etc. That is a huge industry. A pedal to sound like a 8x10 monster. This is a step further. For a New York City engineer in an apartment who wants to record loud rock bands without waking neighbors? Great idea. For home use, on the road use? Nothing can ever replace the guitar/bass into a tube amp. This to me is more about flexibility, reliability, and portability.
I embrace technology. There probably was a time when someone was against an overdrive pedal because he would rather get it from his amp naturally. Or he would rather gash his speakers for a fuzz tone before using a fuzz pedal.
I'm not saying I'm ordering one, but the idea is great.

Probably would.
It would be cool if it let you combine stuff that's not possible in real life, like Blackface cleans with Vox breakup or something like that. If you had the possibility to mix characteristics of different amps you put into that profiler bullshit.
Or if you could really model shit into an amp that's not supposed to be an amp. Meet my Carburetor amp with fart breakup. Or my walk on snow cleans with waves crashing breakup.
Then again:

Yeah, they ruined good live bass tone. All this direct bullshit instead of a properly mic'd cabinet. Alas!
It makes complete sense from an audio engineering point of view like you said, but to me it's just one more soulsuck destroying decent art.

I agree I hate dying my bass. But it makes situations where recording or playing isn't possible, possible. The art is in the creation with the tools.

i wonder what would happen if you got two of them, and had them model each other over and over.
