i love stuttering effects and the like, but does the box only churn out shoe/shitgaze?

Seems to me it could be used for alot other than Shoe Gaze, I think for just writing it would be great, Just playing a chord and working over it, it just seems like a generally great tool.

It's like a looper but not... I want one, I would no way limit it to Shoegaze, it seems like a tool that'd be handy for lots of stuff. Like an extra hand when playing guitar.

I compare the Freeze more to a pianist's sustain pedal. They play a note and hold the pedal, the note rings out; let off the pedal and the note is gone. Granted, the Freeze only holds the note(s) you play as soon as you hit it, but allows for a lot of really cool stuff.

I use mine to add some drone notes (it gives them a synthy sheen to them when held) to some solo tunes I play, as well as use it for some more of the meditative stuff I play at church.

I haven't used one, totally would for shoegaze. (And who the frak wants to play anything else?) I figure it's like the infinite repeat setting on my Deltalabs Effectron delay without having to muck with the delay. Used to be a fairly common effect. Some was used after the solo on "Limelight" by Rush. I've never quite been sure about the opening riff of GBV's "I am a Tree" -- it always sounded like an infinite repeat of a longer passage to me.

Don't buy it yet... You can borrow mine to try it out before you shell out the dough. I dig it for a lot of things, though i don't really play shoe gaze. It's really cool when used to replace a keyboardist and if you've got the gear and are creative enough, it can really fill out your guitar tone and create some really cool textures.

Where were you planning on buying it? Pauls boutique in Kensington market has them for sale and you can probably talk them down on the price a little... At least get it tax free.

Out of curiosity, what were you planning on using it for? I use mine mainly as a drone generator, to mangle with modulation. It's amazing if you stretch weird chords with it - instant Phillip Glass!

You're probably thinking of Steve's.

I don't really like Paul's Boutique.
They've been pretty consistently rude to me. :idk:
It probably has something to do with my age though. :grumpy:

Not Steve's, the place I'm talking about is in Kensington Market.

Sucks that they were rude to you, sounds like they may not appreciate my tight pants. :(

This must be a steves thing across Canada, because some of the folks who work at the one in Ottawa are also really rude. And this isn't a new thing, it's something that people already here know.In the past ten years, I can say that I've had several unpleasant experiences.

It'd be a fun learning tool. Play a chord and then jam some leads over it, if that's your thing...or drones...I think you can do a bunch with it. I actually don't understand how it'd work with shoegaze really, but I'm not really into shoegaze so there ya go.
