Anything goes as long as you don't look like one of those jackasses from TGP whilst playing.

i'll have to take exception to this.
and i write this with a smile on my face.....just a diff view.
i gig with my vintage guitars and feel if you don't use your vintage guitar you're a poser.
why have a nice guitar and not use it? why call a guitar a nice "piece"??? ... those people piss me off.
granted in all my travels and the 100's of guitars that have gone thru my hands i have never spent more the 2000 and only did that twice. a 53 gretsch and a 55 gibson ES 295. i gave the gretsch away.
one of my go to guitar is a 56 TV jr (my cost 500)...i could get 5000 easy for it...i use it. i never think that i am showing off..just using my fave guitar. people prob think its a new one anyway.
i just have always liked guitars, amps, and all that shite,
but i guess im a jackass and dick.

Pointy Metal Guitars
Guitars with locking trems.
Anything endorsed by a metal guy....no Dimebag Darrell or EVH, etc.

I guess I wouldn't want anything endorsed by somebody else. If it smacks at all of metal since the 1980's i wouldn't want it.

I'd have a hard time with a double neck 4/6. I almost NEED one, for the sake of convenience, but I don't think I could bring myself to getting one. There is this though:
http://cgi.ebay.com/Satin-WH-Headless-D ... 267wt_1141
Not a bad price. IDK though.
I'd have a hard time rocking a PRS, or most of those other "custom" guitars. I couldn't rock a mandolin, or banjo either. As far as pedals, I don't think I could ever have any of that cornish, bfje, tone czar, and other insanely expensive gear. Or even a gigantic board for that matter. It just BEGGING to get stolen.

those signature guitars where the name of the artist is all over the guitar, or if they made it look really outrageous on purpose

So what would you feel like playing one of these?

ugh stop posting thissss
After I get out of my job and into a half-decent one I might buy one of those...or one of his other doublenecks.
I really don't have a need for it and I'm not sure how lame I would look with one. BUT I WANT ONE.
But...will I just be that "Boris wannabe guy" to other people?
And is it even a half-decent guitar? It is a mystery.

Love those guys. I got their first two albums. I think both were on AmRep. They made a huge jump in recordings between the two. The first was all emotion and the second seemed just plain evil to me at the time. I noticed the second seemed very computer based like what happened with Cows at the exact same time.

I saw this picture of Hendrix, all he used was a wah.... And not even the Jim Dunlop Jimi Hedrix wah, just some old thing.....

i wasn't talking about the kind of instruments you're describing...i was more referring to the kind of guitars you see that sell for that kind of money new. to some extent Custom Shop Fender/Gibsons, PRS, the Stephen Stern Gretsches, etc., but even moreso the extremely ornate custom-builder types such as Suhr, Anderson, etc. Some of my "feeling like a dick" factor also would be because i just don't feel like i'm that good that i should be playing a $5000 guitar. it would be like going down to the Safeway for groceries in a tuxedo.

yea...now i'm with ya on that....however all the anderson's i've played are very very well made and sounded great...just too traditional for me...but that's moot...i am high and will shut the fuk up.
.......who the fuk is stephen stern?????? .....
