Stereo Semaphore

As much as i'm not too fond of catalinbread, the stereo semaphore seems like an incredibly versatile awesome tremolo pedal. It's always been between the tremolessence (somebody sell me one plz?) and the semaphore, and now this thing is like ridiculous. I don't even know if i'd use it like that, but if i had it, i'd find a way.

i applaud those dudes for making it.

this video doesn't showcase it all, but it seems mighty cool.

Some of those waveforms are seriously awesome. You can get ANY tremolo sound you can imagine with those controls. I wonder how the random setting sounds on the SS...

The semaphore was one of my favorite pedals, can't wait to give one of these a try.

FYI, this uses the exact same LFO as the tap tempo tremolo at DIYSB, the Iron Ether Cygnet, and a handful of other tap tempo tremolo pedals that have appeared recently. You can achieve the same waveforms with any of them.

According to what I've read, it uses jfets instead of opamps "for a very particular sort of sound and feel," but it is still optically controlled like all the other tremolos I've seen that are based on the TAPLFO.

It's not totally the same. You are correct about who programmed their microcontroller, but Cbread didn't grab an off-the-shelf solution for the SS.

Not much to tell. Catalinbread confirms it's the TAPLFO here. They says it uses jfets here. The DIY tap tempo tremolo is here. You guys have already seen the Cygnet, of course. MWFX's says their tap tempo trem is using the same LFO on this page. And it appears that this guy is using the same LFO, or one of the variants (identical waveshapes).

What I said is completely true. I didn't say it was totally the same, and I didn't say it was an off-the-shelf solution. I said it uses the same LFO, which it does. I said you can achieve the same waveforms as any of the rest of them, which you can. My reasoning on this is because it still uses a vactrol (stated here) to smooth the PWM of the LFO.

The extra wave knob is great but I've yet to see the appeal in tap tempo.

Check out moltenvoltage.com, they make a tap tempo and multi-waveform micro (MV-53) that you're starting to see in pedals. Cool stuff!

Yeah tap tempo is cool and all but I don't wanna pay for it if I'm not going to use it. Stereo is cool, and a wide range of shapes is a must.
