IDM

Post by sevenSHARPnine »

So I've been hitting the IDM and electronic stuff pretty hard lately, really digging it. Basically I'm listening to Aphex, Bola, Boards of Canada, Wisp, Stendeck, and Shpongle. What else should I be grooving on?

Oh and there's a bit of Anything Box thrown in there as well, dunno if that counts though. Still good!

Mouse on Mars, Oval, Brian Eno... I realize these are completely different electronic genres, but I disagree with genre labeling...hope you enjoy :thumb:

a friend of mine jokes that the I in IDM doesn't stand for intelligent but rather introverted, since thats the only unifying thing they have. introverted fans. badum ch.

i'll add venetian snares, Max Tundra, Simon Bookish, Dan Deacon, and Nathan Michel.

all dance-y electronica music, but they're smart.
,':{I> ... your move, Trebek.

Autechre. Orbital. Future Sound of London (and Amorphous Androgynous). Seefeel. Pretty much any artist on WARP from the mid to late 90s. Telefon Tel Aviv. Some Album Leaf stuff. Ulrich Schnauss. Plastikman (a/k/a Richie Hawtin). Ellen Allien. Apparat. Orchestra of Bubbles (EA + Apparat). Modeselektor. Underworld.

Cannot discount Kraftwerk who I would consider the godfathers of "IDM".

Benn Jordan AKA The Flashbulb

Mild soothing electronica to stomping Drill & Bass to Nujabes like beats to classical compositions and back via cinematic albums.
