ILF m9/gear dilemma

again does anyone know if the m9 works in an effects loop?
Can it handle line level?

The 2x12 is a Deluxe, not a DeVille. They sound pretty different. Anyhow, I love the Blues DeVille/Deluxe for the price...

Actually there was a 2x12 Deville. My wife used to own one. The Deluxe was a 1x12 (which my old roommate use to own).

They are fine for the money, especially if you buy used. Nothing spectacular though. I would hands down rather buy a Blues Jr over the Hot Rod series. You could get 2 used Blues Jr's for a little more than a used Deville, and then you'd have a great stereo rig which would be awesome if you got an M9! I just think there are much better options in your price range... AC30, probably could get a good deal on most silverface Fenders, Ampeg Reverbrocket, Roland Jazz Chorus, even the Bugera's or Alchemist. If a great deal ever came up on a Deville I would probably pass on it. Just been there, done that. It was a decent first real guitar amp, but I wouldn't consider going back.

Awesome, thank you. looks like i've crossed a few options off my list: the blackstar and the fender hot rods. i'm probably gonna go check out a few amps tomorrow, hoping that sam ash isn't full of 14 year olds playing slayer riffs on their ESP"s for everyone to hear. who knows, I might even buy the M9

I don't own a M9 but had the M13 .
While both offer a lot of bang for the buck I never came to like the M13.
I did not like any of the dirt stuff, compressors or some of the cheesy boutique pedal ripoffs included.
But the M9 is surly worth the price for the delays/looper/reverb + some of the whacky stuff alone and can be extremely helpful if you're playing in a cover band or gigging a lot.

Just got back from Sam's.
1. Played the Blues deville 410, fell in love, then realized i was playing with the volume on 2. wayyyyy too much power. so then i played the bogner alchemist 212. the guy from the store told me they're not selling, so he could sell it to me for $850. nice, but man did i love that blues deville....

2. they had a used Budda Superdrive 30 but someone blew the preamp

3. shitty kids playing slayer riffs on their esp's on line 6 spider amps never fail to disappoint.

bump/update. so i played a used blues deville. wayyyyy too much power. i mean jesus, that's the loudest 60 watts i've heard in a while. recently, i've been leaning towards a fender twin reverb...but they're 85 watts if i'm correct, and i'm wondering if it has the same volume problem as the deville's seem to have.

This is true. I would possibly consider a Fender Deluxe Reverb. It would be a step down in loudness, and a step up in tonez compared to the Deville.

would it still have enough power to play small gigs? since 60 watts kicked my ass, i'm not really sure what the drop to 22 would be like

Yeah, It should be enough. Even 15 watts would work for a small gig. If you would want your tone to be completely pristine clean you may want to go for a louder amp for more headroom. I usually like to play with my amps set to where they start to break up, so being able to crank the amp without causing your brains and other inner organs to melt from the atomic blast when you hit that first chord is helpful. Right now I have a Blues Jr, and it can get pretty loud. My next amp will probably be in the 30W range.

Just to play it safe I'd usually tell people to go for something around 30 watts if they are worried about being overpowered in a band situation. Off the top of my head I don't know of any Fender amp that is 30W. There's a few at 40W: Fender Deluxe, Vibrolux Reverb, Bandmaster (doesn't come as a combo though), plus a few probably outside of your price range, and the Bassman is 50W.

Speaker configuration also determines how loud an amp will seem. More speakers move more air. I am approaching the edge of my expertise on this one, so I probably won't say too much more on the subject since I would only be pretending to know what I am talking about (don't see a lot of people admitting that online anymore).

the M9 came home with me today. after about 4 hours of playing, i wish i had bought it sooner. it's actually making me want to put more time into becoming a better guitarist. the drives are kinda useless to me, but everything else has blown my mind, and i've really started to like the lo res delay. that's probably the effect that has surprised me the most
