Boss footswitch swap

Post by Bellyheart »

I'm rehousing a DS-1 and I've currently at the point where it's the stupid button and two wires. I don't know what to wire to make it work the same. I'm probably going to use a DPDT, but I might use a 3pdt...anyone have a diagram or something I can reference. I'm not worried about the LED function. With the mod, you know when it's on.

if you get a momentary stomp, it will work the same as the switch thats in there.

That's a great idea. I'm actually doing for someone else, but he'd probably be down with that. I'll ask him. If not any directions?

teh simplest is probably just getting a 3pdt and achieving true bypass + led. are the original 1/4 inch still attached to the pcb? if so you might have to make an incision. if you dont want LED dpdt is gravy.

alternatively if you want to get crafty you could us a dpdt in combination with the ds-1 circuitry to achieve led and bufferd bypass as the pedal usually is. Basiacally the momentary switch triggers a flip flop like circuit. on receiving the momentary pulse its outputs change state and latch. the output connected to the bypass buffer goes high/low and the output connected to the effect buffer goes low/high (the opposite state of clean buffer). You could simply feed the buffers a signal from a dpdt instead of the flip flop. One pole should have +9 while the other has gnd and vice versa

for example if the x's are teh lugs of a dpdt when you look at it

x1 x2

x3 x4

x5 x6

where x3 and x4 are the poles, x1 and x6 should have +9 and x2 and x5 should have ground. connect the poles to the gates of the mosfet buffers or whatever they are using in the circuit and cut the traces coming from the flip flop circuitry.

The two wires going to the little tactile (button-looking) switch could just be put on a momentary switch.

You can mod it for true bypass by jumpering the FET switches in the circuit, and wiring it like a normal pedal.
