My pawn shop is outrageous, they had a Squier 51' for $175! I tried to tell him they were $100 new but they said "the older a guitar gets the more it's worth." $75 in two years? :grumpy:

Buy it now!

Pawn shops around here used to be good places to check out. Then I started noticing Gruhns guide and other “blue books” behind the counters and every thing became rare and mint.

But you can get a beat to shit Milwaukee hammer drill only missing a few parts for $10 more than a new one at Home Depot.

Bought a Matamp 120w head for £30 (about $55) from a pawnshop/second hand shop back in the late 80's. No master volume, no pre-amp stage, just pure valve drivers.

They didn't have a clue about it! Talk about bargain. :thumb:

Bloody thing weighed a ton and it nearly killed me carrying it home. Never got the thing past '4' on the volume - damn it was loud!!!!

Really wish I'd still got it now........... :( :(
Ahhhhh......the joys of noise!!

Not to get off-topic, but I think that Milwaukee Hammer Drill needs to be a band name...

About 15 years ago I stopped at a rummage sale and picked up a working Fender 6G15 tube reverb unit from 1964 for three bucks and a Rhodes 73 suitcase piano for $15. The guy said he had more stuff downtown at his tanning salon and that I should come look at it the next day. Went down there the next day and left with a Maestro EP-3 echoplex and a Vox Viscount amplifier for another $65. I still have all of these items and they all work great!

Holy shit do you live by me? There's been a 51 hanging up in one of the local pawn shops of a long time at that price.

Anyway, pawn shops can be awesome. My main amp, a Yamaha VR60000, for $150 two years ago. Had a few decent quality cables in the back too that the guy didn't seem to know about, so that was cool too. My melodica was bought at the one withthe overpriced 51 for $15. Made sure to wipe down the mouth piece with hand sanitizer that they had on hand because it would be gross to just put my mouth on it, but it sounds great, and it's some model from the 60s with a metal enclosure. They wanted $25, but I bullshitted them about new ones being $30ish, and how I'd need to buy the attachment mouth pieces (it just has the round bit that you'd attach the mouthpiece to, but I can play just fine without it) and they agreed to go down on it. Just had to clean out the inside + unstick two of the reeds (they're still a bit out of tune, but whatever), and it's fun af.

I still wish I would have bought the strat copy I saw in one a couple years ago. It was sunburst with a black guard, and the electronics were a bit of a problem (obviously couldn't open it up to see if it was something simple or not), but the neck was stupidly comfortable. They wanted $150, but I know I could have talked them down $20-30, so that doesn't matter too much. I was gonna get it that weekend, but it was gone when I went back.
