Generally, if I want to impress my friends, I just tell them to stop averting their gaze from my glorious visage. Works every time.

That last one looks really interesting. Though, it may be too much for the nonsense I would be doing with it....but, at the same time, I do like ornaments.

The more I think about it, the more I want to build a whole lot of stuff. It's all very exciting.

i got a Tenma temp controlled station from MCM electronics for less than 15 bucks about a month ago and it has been a great iron so far. it takes just as long as my weller iron i got in 1985 to warm up but i expected as much from such an inexpensive iron. overall a great deal.

By the way, you can get pre-drilled enclosures at pedalpartsplus (because you mentioned you don't have a drill). Nice thread; I'm in the market for a new soldering iron too.

I've used a cheapy radio shack iron a lot, but the last time I change the tip I raped the shit out of the threading, so it's done for.

I've been using pliers to twist the slightly mismatched threads of Radio Shack tips into a 25 watt Lenk I got from Wal-Mart years ago. The whole thing oxidizes to the point where the threads don't hold anymore when the tip is ready to be replaced.

I'm currently using my stepdad's old weller tc201/202...it has a massive power unit/base and is like 60w :grumpy:

It is seafoam green though, that makes up for it.

so I bought this weller wp35 after the radio shack stopped heating up hot enough to melt solder. its 35watts and has a silicone cord. I though the station thing was unnecessary since I'm getting a panavise and that holds my iron and sponge.
if you get it from newegg they will drop ship it from CA for $2 soooo $52 total. but they dont sell tips. the tip it comes with is flat but not pointy at all. like soldering with my thumbs.
