same question for me too. i need a new amp. wanna get rid of my marshall mg50dfx, and step up to a tube amp. i play indie/post rock/post metal/shoegazey stuff. appleseed cast comes to mind, as do bands like explosions in the sky, and Kylesa or Isis even though all those are different sides of the spectrum. i was thinking maybe an orange with a 2x12 cab? or maybe a vox ac-30 or something like that, who knows.

Well looks like both amps are out of the question now, the bassman was sold before the seller got back to me and I'm just not getting the deal I wanted on the Sovtek. However, a RedBear MK120 has popped up on the market. Do you guys know anything about these amps?

@ms1012
Orange is a great brand but they a pretty pricey, whats your budget? Also, Orange and Vox are two different sounds. If you could get both then I'd say your set for life. ;)

well my price range is around 8-900 once i sell my marshall, but i noticed that dual terror's go for around 550 used, and then i could probably get a used 2x12 for a reasonable price as well. this thing needs to cover post rock to stoner metal haha so it's a tough match

So I decided to start searching for a good clean amp and am looking at either a Fender Deluxe 85 or Roland JC120 which one would handle fuzz and other pedals (such as delays etc...) better?

I'm gonna head to Sam Ash on wednesday to play a few amps, so i'll let you know what sounds nice on clean. what's your price range? And I've played the JC120, but it's HUGE, and i don't really wanna pay that much for a solid state amp :(

My budget would be really cheap at the moment, like $400 or less thats why I was looking at these. I was hoping to get one in a trade for one of my guitars.

ok i'll keep it in mind. fender blues jr seemed really nice, and i remember someone telling me the Epiphone Blues custom is awesome for the money. all tube, and you can switch it from 30 watts to 15

Fender Frontman ams are pretty good with pedals, they're loud and clean, the od cahnnel is okay, I'd get the 65R or teh 120R or somehing like that, it's a two by 10, cool stuff good prices, check youtube for some demos.

I've said it once and I'll at again.... The Peavey Triumph and Ultra series from the 80's and 90's kick mucho ass. And are SUPER cheap. I got a Triumph PAG 60 1x12 (vintage 30) for $250 shipped on eBay. The cleans are thick and LOUD and the crunch and lead are awesome! Supposedly the Triumph led to the Ultra and the Ultra to the 5150. But I've heard the 5150 has shitty cleans and these amps don't.

Hey Ill have to look into those, they sound interesting. Well I have a chance of getting a JC120 in a trade for my Epi LP Custom. I would like to hear your guys' opinions on these amps. They have gotten pretty good reviews from what I hear/read. Let me know what you guys think. I would just be using it to run pedals through as I slowly build my collection.

i played one a while back. one of the cooler solid state amps IMO. just really big, and i hear they take pedals like a champ, which they should considering they own boss pedals.
