Adaptors.

Post by elbandito »

Anybody wanna make me one? Or something that I can use as a workaround? I need 18v and a 24v. Also, something that will power positive and negative centre pedals. Goddamn this battery-less existence.

Thanks for the list but nothing seems to say if it can power both positive and negative centre pedals.
Also, why do pedals even have one or the other? What's it all about?

First everything was powered like every other electrical machine, then Boss thought let's make money selling adaptors by reversing negative and positive..

At least that is what I've heard :idk:

Sorta, there was no standard, a bit like when electricity first came about and if you wanted a hair dryer, you had to buy one made in your town because someone from another town would have a different kind of plug on the end so eventually BOSS (and others) Became the big sellers and standardised Pedal Power supplys to 1/4 Jacks & 2.1mm DC Jacks (No reason that couldn't have been 3.55mm Jacks like on earphones & Big 2.5mm Positive Ground Jacks but that's what they went with, probably cheap and they had the parts from some other sector of there business)

The choice between Positive and Negative ground is all down to the Voltage Source and power supplies etc. being imperfect and also just how the effect was designed.

Anyway, PM'd Elban with the info I think you'll need.

The Boss-style jack is also important because the NC switch disconnects the battery when you plug it in.

I still hate it, though. The ones that EHX used... those headphone-style plugs... really like those a lot more. They're tiny. :omg:

I don't mind diff jacks, I just wish there would be a standard to which (pos or neg ground) one was. Like ALL 1/8th jacks could be cent+, and all 2.1mm "boss style" jacks be cent-. Alas, it is not so.
