I might actually wait around to hear what the new tremoloessence comes out to decide. I have always heard really good things about dr. scientist but for some reason i've never actually gotten around to buying one of those pedals. The reverberator looks like a fun pedal too.

I really like the semaphore, but if you need tap tempo and multiple waveforms and other craziness the goatkeeper might be the way to go. The difference is the price you pay. I would love a goatkeeper, but I have been unable to justify the price over what I use the semaphore for. If trem is something you can wait on, the new dr. sci might be worth waiting for due to the extra versatility.

Cusack Tap-A-Whirl (v3 for extra boom)
I support these guys all the way, they do some crazy stuff (definitely eying their new delay..)

fever606 wrote:I recently got a Goatkeeper, which is the only trem pedal I have owned save for the Boss PN-2 that served me well since the late 90s. The real selling point of the GK, and why I finally sold my beloved Boss, is the sequencing of trem speeds. If you just want a trem with saw / sine / square waves and a depth control, the GK is total overkill. Of course it does those, and many more (and you can program your own waveshapes, which is going to be killer once I have time to invest in doing that) and does them well and with tap tempo. Awesome.

One thing that it lacks that I have found myself sort of reaching for on occasion, is a knob to set the trem speed. Tap works fine most of the time, but sometimes you just want to nudge it a bit to sync up with a delay or drumbeat or whatever. Minor thing, though... if nothing else, it has improved my ability to tap in tempo!

i would like to add to all the points above: the goatkeeper is able to sync to any "click" audio signal. I tried it for recording purposes and got a great tight tremolo sitting in the track. As far as i know only the goatkeeper can sync like that (the boss slicer via MIDI - but this is a chopping tremolo).
From the sound aspect there is nothing impossible for the goatkeeper. But you have to invest some time.

Some thoughts imho on tremolos:
Fulltone: overrated. I do not like the sound. The footswitching possibilities i never needed really...
Demeter: a friend of mine has it since many years and it sounds with his playing and equipment quite good. I personally do not like it with my sound.
Catalinbread Semaphore: good sound (depth!), great features. Makes a treble boost in the overall sound that i do not like on all of my amps
Cusack: Sound and features not as good as the semaphore. But it has the tap-switch!

And the 4ms tremolous is also on my list :animal:

Has anyone tried both the Semaphore and the Tremolessance? They seem to be the same except that the Tremolessance has a tone control.

I do wish someone would release a tremolo with those wave shape options but with a smoother sine wave instead of a 'blippy' triangle wave.

Tremolo isn't an effect I use enough to warrant spending big bucks on one.Even though I love the effect...

My experience is that the Rocktron Pulse is a good cheap and effective trem pedal.Had one awhile back, and would put another on the floor given the opportunity.

The Cusack has 24 different waveforms, and you can save the tempo, ramp speed, tap-divide and such to each individual waveform

i can't really recommend you anything for USA, but for EU... try this guy http://f5fx.blog.hu/

i had the Tap-Tempo Tremolo even before he really started, got it in a trade -> awesome luck, i love it...

i tried a tremolo without tap tempo and tap-division before and i was just frustrated... after i got this and since i've been able to tap in triplets, i never looked back :)

This looks awesome...fuck me for living in the states.

At this point i'm going back and forth between the goatkeeper and waiting around for the new tremoloessence. who knows? By the time that comes out I might just decide to buy both. But then again I am supposed to hold back some money for christmas presents for the girlfriend and the family...but I do love pedals...hmm.
