This music sucks. It's just not very good. Period. Nothing is even remotely impressive sonically or lyrically about that song. How could an album of this warrant a perfect score?
Interesting this this was posted here... I will say that I follow all sorts of music and know kanye's stuff well and really just kinda got sick of all his earlier albums and thought "meh"...
I didn't follow any of his drama beyond calling bush out on the Katrina thing....
But this new album is masterpiece of production, design and execution..... I have listened to it repeatedly since it came out this week and it's just amazing... It utilizes multiple styles of music, it breaks the hip hop mold and clearly other hip hop artists will now try to match this album...
It's the most honest any hip hop artist has been without filling lyrics with boasts or threats constantly....
It's Paul's Boutique.... People will hate it....
Bon Iver did some stuff on this album and I wouldn't be surprised if the fuzz on the track is a Shiva or an eau Claire thunder because when I heard that sound I immediately thought "that's an ILF pedal"
I'm not saying it's for everyone nor am I insisting you go out and get it (that would be the Bon Iver album "For Emma Forever Ago"... Go get that) but for what it is... It's the best one out there in a long time...

Agreed, nothing deserves a perfect score because if somone did somethign perfect it would signal an appocalypse and stuff like that/I hate rap and rappers and the like.
This review is SOOOO out of touch and just for web site hits, really. Almost any fan of the band will tell you that this album was a feat. SO GOOD. Especially considering that they made it after all their classic gear was stolen.
As far as the new Kanye goes... I just got it and I will listen to it tomorrow. I have a feeling that Pitchfork is still out of touch and loves those web site hits. If nothing- there needs to be a track-for-track battle vs. NYC Ghosts & Flowers. Then we'll see what's up.
I think that thanks to the Internet and anybody being able to express their opinion about something that "ratings" are obsolete... I'd rather come here to hear what you guys think than some music industry nut chewer wanting to get points with the artists PR people so they can get their girlfriend backstage after a show...
Power to the people I say...
