how are the springs connected to the box? could you connect something other than them to it? like a cymbal or baking pan?
or larger springs with more tension?or do the springs have to sit on top of the box?

Hm...

You have neat ideas! They connect to the box with a cinch cable, neatly labeled in and out. I guess one could connect something else.
