the algal bloom is completely different from the ab-synth. the chalice is a non oscillating 5 knob ab-synth. ;)

Darren's right. But the confusion is kinda my fault.

I once said how the AB-Synth started with one half of the Algal Bloom circuit, then has another fuzz circuit layered in, different controls, and so on... I've said various things to that effect to explain the difference, which I think made people think they were similar.

The AB-Synth and Algal Bloom are VERY different pedals from each other! The AB-Synth is much higher gain (slightly more compressed) and more sizzley. The Algal Bloom is wayyyy more open, goes into lots of lower gain overdrive / fuzzy-overdrives.

Is there anywhere in the clip when it's just the Algal Osc?

jealousy ensues. with this pedal in particular. I thought the fuzzhuggasaurus would be more fuzz on tap than I could handle nevermind adding a counterpart to it and the other thread you made running all your customes at once! The design is truely of a higher order.

:hello: lurkingsloth! when i saw your phantom bloom i knew you would get a kick out of this one! the only thing that amazes me more than they way toms designs sound is how well they sound stacked! of course i usually dont have them all on at the same time, but it is nice to know you can scare the life out of just about anything with a few stomps and a volume knob!!!

yup! from about :21 seconds to about 1:09 is just the algal bloom osc! :joy:

the oscillation appreatiation declaration of oscillation clip is just algal bloom oscillator for the first minute and a half or so! :joy:

The glue that holds it all together is mode one of the Arcade. That thing lends so much texture while allowing variable gate options. Towards the end when it was just AB/osc.,GW,& 'Ring, that was the mother of all tones. That one might be my favorite Custom of yours(I don't count the Arcade, since it's in full production now.) Love those tones. Even with everything on,it's not too over the top. A brilliant design, all around :thumb:
