Help me decide? MXR DII or Fulltone '69
I have the chance to pick up either a Fulltone 69 or MXR Distortion II. I've wanted to try the MXR ever since I first heard it existed but haven't ever encountered one, and the '69 seems really cool but I'm concerned it won't have enough low end. What would you do if you had to pick either one? Currently I'm really digging my Rat and Lunar Module (I've liked that rat for almost 10 years) so I don't know that I'd get much of a different sound from either of these.

Honestly i think the Fulltone will compliment your Rat a bit better. Its warmer, Tweedier, darker. Less mid scoopy than the MXR in my opinion. FULLTONE will do you right!

The Fulltone is more amp-friendly: you can get plenty of good sounds with it, alone or with the Rat. The MRX is a one-sound pedal imho, but with plenty of low frequencies and warm highs: wonderful overdrive for guitar and bass...
[BTW, if you don't like the DistII, I might be interested

69 sucks from when I played. My friend had it and only got any kind of interesting sounds when everything was dime'd. He ended up selling it for the Alga Bloom.

Decided: MXR DII over Fulltone '69
Well, the guy I was going to get a '69 from sold them both the night I got the cash, so that option died. I didn't really feel like waiting to get one on ebay, scouring FS/T threads, etc., so I went ahead and got a Dist 2. I almost pulled the trigger on a Malekko 616 instead, but I'll wait on that until I know I don't want a Deluxe Memory Boy.
And I like the MXR! I didn't really like the one Dist+ I had used in the past - too harsh. The Dist 2 reminds me of a rat, but just a little different. It may not be the most usable in the grand scheme of things - especially when playing with others - but I really dig the sound. I think I made the right choice - the Lunar Module is really working for me right now, I don't need to get another fuzz!

Fulltone and I are not friends.
I just don't dig their stuff.
I'd just rock what you've got for now.

I like their trem, but that's about it.
I seem to be the only on the internet who feels this way though.
Oh well.

Very good choice.... I've played many germanium fuzzes and I do love the balanced textured fuzziness, lives up to the "69" moniker the 69 pedal carries.... But fuzzhugger takes fuzz to another level, it's the signature sound of ILF, it's the fuzz you hear in your head...
