New Pickups?

Post by 01010111 »

I want to get new pickups for this guitar

Image

I was thinking about putting a humbucker in the neck position and a p90 in the bridge position. I was thinking about maybe putting a gibson p94t in the bridge position and I wasn't sure about the humbucker. I want something that has a pretty rounded out sound, without getting too harsh or too muddy; but avoiding the midscooped stuff.

I basically don't want to have to decide between humbuckers and single coils, recently I've been playing with a strat and I love the sound it gets with fuzz, but the clean sound doesn't quite compare with humbuckers.

thanks :hello:

the GFS Mean 90 might fill what you're looking for. and theyre on the super cheap as far as pickups go. i personally havent played them but they get pretty great reviews. i do have some GFS Dream 90s that i play on. that are pretty nice. especially for the price. the neck is especially warm sounding, and both neck and bridge are very clear and articulate. the Mean 90s are suppose to be warmer with more midrange... pretty close to an actual P90 from what i hear. and you wouldnt have to decide between humbucker and single coil.

personally, im really hoping to get a set of Bill Lawrence L609's some point in the not too distant future. theyre suppose to be pretty close to a jazzmaster sound but in a humbucker format. might be a little too lacking in the mids for what youre after though.

I would check out Hanson Pickups, some of the best pickups on the market, they just started selling their pickups to the public and making guitars (which are awesome), but they have been making pickups for Fender, Gibson, and other big companies for years.

Here's a link:
