Aluminum Pickguards

Post by colin »

Anyone using an aluminum pickguard on your guitar? If so, how do you like it?
I'm finding my G&l ASAT to be a touch noisy (particularly with tons of fuzz) when compared with my Lace Sensor equipped Strat. I'm a single-coil man, but I'd love to cut down on the buzz.
Do aluminum pickguards really cut down on the noise on a noticeable level?
If I get one, I'm thinking of going through http://www.tone-guard.com/ Anyone dealt with them?

Unless you just want it because it looks snazzy, you could just glue aluminium foil underneath the pickguard.

Good point sir, not quite sure why that didn't occur to me in the first place. The only thing that's kept me from ordering the aluminum is that fact that I quite like the looks of my regular old plastic guard. :picard:

Or you could get aluminum/copper tape and not deal with glue at all :thumb:
Some are conductive through the adhesive and some aren't.

They wouldn't be in buisness if people didn't buy their stuff, so obviously it's not too expensive for some, but I do agree $5 for one knob is silly.
