Would rock. Hard. :thumb:

Reminds me quite a bit of the P-bass I played through most of college.

Thing actually sounds ok [well I do have a Seymour Duncan antiquity J pickup in there] and is really light...
Sound wise it does punk great and slap'n'pop really good for some reason... although the melted pickguard sort'a gets in the way for popping.
It needs a new nut though...

I don't think it's ugly at all. I dig it. :joy:

I saw a guitar come into my shop once, the pickgaurd was so burned and melted it actually lifted up and was touching the strings.

It's actually pretty cool, I would add two more jazz style pickups and a 5 way switch, like a strat style set up on a J-Bass. Also there is this new Godin bass that has that kind of set up except with P-90's it's pretty cool except one finish is like $100-$200 more!

For the record... yes I have a P pickup laying around somewhere but it is a EMG and I didn't want to go active on this.

And it still sounds OK with the pickup totally misaligned with the strings?
(I love the tautology of "QUESTION AUTHORITY" -- needs a sticker on the back that says "EXCEPT MINE" )

I love that you just have stuff lying around to build basses out of. Every time I think about doing something like that, I give up because of the hassle of sourcing parts

Yeah I thought it was funny too... actually has more even string volumes then a lot of EB type pickups...

I know what you mean actually... usually what stops me is tuners... I almost always am in need of tuners :grumpy: But I ended up with a extra set do to ordering a set with the wrong shaft size so.... But really I do have a lot of parts laying around... I could build at least four instruments... if I buy more tuners...

OK I'l give a run down for the hell of it....

Neck: got is off ebay 5 years ago for $30, it's been on two other project basses...
Body: I think it is a squire, I got it as it looks for $15 at a local store.
Tuners: Actually a good set, can't remember the make but they came from Stu Mac
Bridge: 74 Fender bridge that I had to replace the main screws on
Pickguard: Came off my 74 P bass... it was warped like that when I got the bass 18 years ago... AZ summers I assume...
Pickup: is listed already...
Knod: I think I got it at radio shack...

Hard to say as other then the body everything is recycled from other projects... only thing that I haven't had on there for over five years in the body and sticker which is about $20... if you had to go buy everything though... hmm a bit over $200 and it doesn't suck so that is saying something these days... I remember not that long ago where you could pick up a damn good bass for $200 if you did some looking.
