Ghost Box Orchestra

Post by jrmy »

Just got hipped to these guys by a posting by Stompboxsonic over in the Mid-Fi forum - he mentioned that the guitar player had a Psych Bike, so I figured "what the heck." And they turn out to be effing amazing! Dense, reverby, swampy, grooving psych rock, but with a sort of Sonic Youth sonic bent to it. Really awesome clanging, chiming, buzzing, verbed out songs! Oh, and the ever-appreciated "pay what you want" album download price - hard to argue with that...

Hell yeah! This is something I can dig. ILF turns me on to so many good bands.

Cool beans! Glad you guys are digging 'em! I'm streaming the album for the third time today - definitely going to be purchasing the CD shortly...

Glad you all are enjoying the GBO scene! Great group of guys and gal.
The album does a great job capturing the intensity and dynamics of their live show (considering their bassist joined the fray about a week before they hit the studio that is no small feat!).

If any of you are in the North East within a reasonable drive to Boston I would urge you to catch them at Deep Heaven Now on November 13th.
It's a 2 day, duel club psych, noise, freak-out fest. Ton of great effects heavy, conscious altering bands for cheap!

As added incentive for making the trek Mid-Fi Doug's band Moss will be playing as well.

ILF is good for a breathing mans soul. To both his GAS and his wallet it's a disaster, but it's a grainy fuzzy sounding disaster so what am I to complain.

Will check the band later on, now I should get back to bed, and get some rest, finally...

After listening to it a few times, I have to say this is a great album overall. My favorite song is "Bounce and Float".
