Custom Big Muff Russian

Post by The4455 »

So, while I was having my amp head rehoused I asked if they could build me a pedal if I brought in the schematicss, specifically a Big Muff Russian, as it turns out the amp repair guy is a Muff aficionado and builds custom ones all the time. So my question is what would you customize your Big Muff Russian with, I already know I want it to have:

1. Smaller enclosure, EHX XO size (like the Little Big Muff)
2. 9 volt adapter on the top
3. Ins and outs on the correct sides
4. True Bypass

I am open to suggestions, provided I still want it to sound like a Big Muff Russian.

Or just buy a Bass Big Muff, based on the Russian circuit board with a few nice extras ;)

To EHX, "based on" means "painted the same color as".

But still It is the worst sounding big muff variant I have ever tried [I have owned 6 other all] The only thing is has going for it is that it is cheap and has a semi functional blend and... it makes a great paper weight. There are SOOOO many better pedals.

On the other hand if I hadn't of bought one I couldn't have traded it for my uke which is more extreme then the BBM ever was :thumb:

Now that that is out of the way....

I would suggest a mid control mod, and or a blend.

If there are SOOOOOO many better pedals, what should I get, also I am kinda looking for a "Marshall" sound if a Marshall was a fuzz!

Than I would say Rat or Turbo Rat would do the job.. But there will be enough to disagree with that I guess :joy:
