Exploring those “ out of the static and down in the hiss “ signals and sounds. Almost the finalized rig for an upcoming first Friday gallery opening. Concept inspired by a young performer with a laptop, 2 - Bose L1’s and ……………earbuds.
This is largely a collection of family heirloom and personal gear..............
Panasonic T-100MD Shortwave radio and Kenwood KT-7500 am/fm receiver feeding their own channels into the Craig 8 track recorder. The 8 track is recording the radio signals at deep in the red levels. Output is y-d out to a Realistic 5 Band stereo graphic EQ and a Biamp TC-60 stereo power amp. The amp drives an antique pine shelving 2-10 cabinet with a Celestion and a Peavey Scorpion.
From the graphic eq into a Realistic ST-14 stereo cassette recorder again recording deep in the red on out to a Realistic 4 channel mixer. The first output is fed into channel one of a Sears Silvertone 1484 amplifier. The other mixer output is into an Echoplex EP-3 set for sound on sound with the output going to channel two of the Silvertone. The amp is driving a $10 flea market found , home brew speaker cabinet. Beauty incarnate. Particle board and simulated wood grain stick-on shelf paper. Realistic 15”, Utah 8” w/whizzer cone and 6” Realistic horn. Crossover by Realistic. Much of the interconnecting cables and plugs are………Radio Shack.
The pre-amps of the 8 track and cassette have a wonderfully, grainy high end.
The Grand Funk Railroad “ On Time “, Capitol 8TX-307 cartridge documenting the raw radio signal.
I’ve lucked out…..no ground loops.

The Bose sounded SURPRISINGLY good.
