When the day finally arrived and the pedals ended up in the hands of the people who ordered them there were some issues, some small (broken screw heads) some larger (mine is rather quiet compared to what I was expecting). There was a lot of frustration that lead up to the "I'll give you your money back and then smash it with a hammer" quote.

I've just nvr understood what about that pedal was so difficult? Sounds more like it was half-assed to me. What kind of broken screw heads? Like someone tossed some random pieces of metal inside? Or someone opened a pedal when they didn't need to and broke some stuff?

I've built a couple pedals for myself that I've gotten a lot of enjoyment out of. The best is a Boss CE2 clone that I've let a few other people mess with as well. I used all primo resistors, WIMA caps for larger values, silver mica for smaller where it'd fit, a burr brown op amp, etc. Not puffing this up or anything- every single person that's played it has asked me to build one for them as well, and offered to pay handsomely. In the end, I haven't built a single pedal for anyone but myself, because when the chips are down I don't think I'd have the time/energy to support any problems that may arise, either from my build or from continued use. If you can't make that kind of commitment, you shouldn't be selling pedals, especially considering what people paid for the workhorse, and what askthedust no doubt paid for his custom job.

As in the heads of the screws holding the bottom of the enclosure had snapped off, something about using the drill press to screw them in and it overtightened. :idk:

Ah, well that's a no brainer. Being dumb and drill pressing screws can't be the only beef with that pedal though. Me thinks a certain someone tried to pull a schumann on us with that one

They were the wrong screws, they don't fit the holes so they were forced in and broken, heads stripped, and jammed in. I can not remove the ones that still have their heads on mine....

From some info passing I got the there is also problems with the wire used. the glue on the boards didn't hold so it flops about in the pedal... put the tow together and... What happens with mine though is the starve will get stuck in some settings and none of the controls will work inless I restart it ;) by unplugging and replugging the power.

Huh? I hope your response was some kind of joke. I wasn't aware of the issues with Devi and the Workhorse and Ruby. I guess there are plenty of builders who will build cool fuzz pedals and provide excellent support. If Devi won't take care of the loyal users that post on her forum her business could seriously drop off.
