I live a stones throw from music swap shop, might head down at 11:07 on Saturday (funniest opening time ever!!!)

I am open to any type of amp, but after this thread I want a blank canvas for my pedals to sing! They all sound like good options
- the side bets -
proco rat (keeley mod), green russian big muff (super sustain mod), hot cake, dr. scientist sunny day delay, frazz dazzler, reverberator & tremolessence

Will do... I have actually played on and off for about 10 years. This will be sweet!

Update - went to Music Swop Shop, fair stack of amps to choose from but many had replaced blown speakers or weren't what I was after. Got to be patient I guess.

There was a guy there that was really helpful, pushing fender tube amps - in particular anything old that still used real wood. I like the sound of them for sure too.

Not sure whether to go for the 4 or 2 speaker options, but the twin reverb looks like a good all rounder for home recording / jamming.

More to follow

If you get a chance to play any of the old Aussie Valve amps do - especially VASE. They were made in brisbane in the 60's, and there are shitloads of them still floating around because they were built to last. I have 3 - Trendsetter 40 - kind of like an AC30 - nice breakup around noon and takes pedals beautifully, also has 2 channels with a pushpull treble boost channel to emulate a tb ac30, a bassman80 - best clean bass amp Ive played (though i havent played alot) and takes pedals well too and a Trendsetter deluxe 120, with 2 3x12 cabs, which is the only one with a master volume but is so loud my friend 1.5 kms away can hear me on a clear day! Also takes pedals well. The TS40 is probably the best bet though - there were heaps made and they sound great with every guitar Ive used as well as all of my pedals. I snagged mine a few years back for $500 with a 4x12 and although prices have gone up a little they should still be under $1000 (and cheaper than a Twin). Check out tymguitars.com.au - they have heaps of cool vintage amps, and Im pretty sure they ship too. I know a few other vintage Aussie amps sound good too - Vadis are pretty good, Goldentone too, and WASP (actually originally from NZ) are alot like Marshalls...The prices on these have certainly risen in the past 4-5 years, but they are still cheaper than the majority of US/UK vintage amps. They are still undervalued imo, and if you find a good 'un you're set.
buncha stuff...
