This Fuzzbox (etc.) Sounds Better Than The Demo!

Post by CBA »

Inspired by that Devi Ruby post down there, I was wondering what effects you buttholes have procured that went beyond what you heard in or expected from whatever online demo you watched (or heard). I know demos can often be misleading, most likely at the fault of the specific media player (YouTube), but sometimes they turn out really nicely too. I'm just going to list mine, but feel free to explain yours. I love a lot of the effects that I have that I won't list, as a lot of them were exactly what I expected, which is great. Perhaps you could toss in a WAY BELOW DEMO list if you wanted as well.

BEYOND/BETTER :thumb:
-Devi Ever US Fuzz (Tommy Dalton's demo!)
-Catalinbread Merkin
-Mellowtone Hi-5
-Fuzzhugger AB-Synth

I don't know if it's fair of me to make a "WAY BELOW DEMO" list. Or even "Slightly Below". I'll think about it.

M'out.

Both my skreddys fit this list- a Mayo and a Zero if you're counting. The demos sounded unreal, but the real life pedals and their response went way beyond my expectations.

Well, the mellowtone mini wolf CPU is just about the most novel and awesome pedal I've ever had. The only demo that does it justice is the tone factor one:

The guitarist really gets some riffs that work for the pedal instead of just playing bloos soloz. He does a great job.

AB Synth, definitely. Most all the demos I've heard of it are really cool. But you really have to experience one for yourself. Same with most any of Tom's pedals. The tones very from guitar to guitar, amp to amp, etc. Good stuff. EHX Microsynth is another. There's this guy on here named magiclawnchair that'll give you as thorough and awesome of a demo as you could ever hope for. Perhaps you've heard of him :poke: :poke:

What are you talking about? All pedals sound better in real life than they do on a screen.

(Unless they don't, in which case it's a matter of poor circuit design or incompatibility with your other gear or that you suck at using pedals or something.)
