Man id hold off before shelling out the cash on a tribute. G&L guitars and ESPECIALLY their basses have an awful resale value despite the fantastic quality and most of the time you can find usa made examples for the price of the imports. Try gbase and ebay.

Agreed. I got an '82 L-1000 for $700. Just save up a wee bit more, and you'll be golden.

I agree a whole bunch about doing terrible, immoral things to a maton, but I wanna fucking marry my g&l and make it dinner every night because I love it so much.

It is fighting for time (and currently winning) with my standard issue Black MIM Tele (no pic, but you all know what they look like).

Agile Al-2800 baritone landed today :omg:

The little things like tuners/input jack/strap buttons/switch all feel solid (more so than many of my MIM/MIJ fenders). I haven't poked around the guts yet to check out the electronics.
Maple set neck painted to match the body, it's a slight change playing a 27" but it's nothing like playing one of those bass vi baris.

It weighs in around 11lb. A bit hefty, but that's how a LP should feel. I love the weight and the way it carries the string vibrations.
Pickups are ceramic and mreh. I just ordered a set of BKP warpigs

I'm impressed so far...these are made in korea but the finish looks great and there is no visible blems or anything.
It was pretty well set up at the factory, fairly low action, little/no buzz, just needed a quick tune up.
The strings feel pretty taut tuned to B, I'm sure it could handle lower tunings with ease.
There are some that call me...morningstaru?

That bari is hot...
I need to add both a bari and a semi hollow to my collection.

The Jag, amazing btw. I just rebuilt/finished a cheap tele in reranch's seafoam green.

On another note...I decided that I wanted to add try out a gfs retrotron.
Got one in the "liverpool vintage wound" specs, stuck it in my samick, and for around $30 I couldn't be more pleased.

GFS makes some really cool pick ups. I like them for the simple fact that if you are looking for a different sound.....bingo. 30 bucks later. If you dont like it....get a different one. Post video of the new pick up???

That is BEAUTIFUL. If I fail to sand away all of the sealer on my project before staining it...again...I'm going to have to steal that color.

Thanks! Yeah, the Inca Silver is gorgeous... depending on how you finish it, you can get anything from super shiny to an almost gunmetal (which is what I was going for). I kind of want all my guitars to match this one now!

There's a very nice looking L-2000 on vancouver craigslist for $600 right now, if I had the cash I'd be all over it. G&l's are the shit, I love my ASAT classic. I definately spent more than I should've for it, but I'd never bought a brand-new guitar before.
