What would you be you trying to accomplish by bypassing it? There are a few other things I would change first...

I love the smell of solder in the morning.
Successful dealings with: blooghost, starcastic, bronzetalon, theavondon, absent, jero, sevenSHARPnine, magiclawnchair, oldangelmidnight, and others that I can't remember lol

Best way to tone bypass a DS-1 is to chuck it in the river and go get something else.

Or send it to me!
I have been able to get some great rock tones out of modding them. The essential mods get more of the guitar signal into it uninhibited and tame that terrible, harsh high end.

It's a cheap pedal that sounds like ass stock, was just wondering if some more interesting/better sounds can be had with the tone bypassed, plus it might have been kinda fun to mod if it's so cheap

Swap all the signal path caps (C1, 2, 3, 5, 9, 13, 14) for 1uF film (fat low end and clear high) or monolithic ceramic (warm lows and gritty highs). That will let more low end from the guitar through the circuit. Start there, and get back to us!

Keeley was selling kits a few years back. Not sure if he still is. Just a bunch of components getting replaced for a better overall sound.

Not looking to improve the tone or anything, I mean legit bypass the tone control. Don't really care if it sounds awful, I just wanna know what it sounds like haha. DS-1s are a lost cause in the tonechaser aspect but they can be fun as noise projects
I've also wondered what the Fuzz Face and Soda Meiser would sound like with LED clipping...
