i special ordered Miles Davis "Kind of Blue" and Pixies "Doolittle"... as well as about 30 other records they didn't have.... but what they did have was U2, Creedance Clearwater Revival, The Stooges, The Smiths, Radiohead and Wilco.... not a bad start, but i think i got most excited listening to more classic stuff than the newer albums.... just something about the sound of the needle hitting the record and the static crackle in the speakers that you don't get from CD's....

Between my older sister and my stepfather I've inherited a good batch but I've continued to buy them. Mostly I buy punk, blues, and jazz on vinyl because, well, just because. The thing with vinyl that I like and have always liked is that you have to make a conscious decision to listen to at least one side of music. You take out the sleeve, put it on the turntable, blow off the lint, look at the pics, read the liners, hug it a while, roll a joint on it.

My faves:
Lungfish-Love is Love
Judas Priest-Sad Wings of Destiny
Shellac-all of them
Mel Torme-Swinging on the moon (YES!)
Tom Waits-Rain Dogs and Big Time
Refused-Shape of punk to come
Madonna's first record
Barkmarket-Peacekeeper
Rapeman-2 nuns and a packmule
Beatles-Abbey Road
Killdozer-Little baby buntin
Mississippi John Hurt
Coltrane-Giant Steps
Miles Davis-Sketches of Spain
The Clash-London Calling
Dalek-Negro Nekro Necros
The Stones-Sticky Fingers (with the awesome zipper cover)
Bozz Scaggs-Middle Man
Jeff Beck-Blow by Blow
ZZ Top-Deguellos

For Christmas my wife hunted down a copy of Queen II. Then I saw that it was re-released and sold at Target. :idk:

Oh so many. I love records.

Punk on vinyl is heaven for me, dunno just sounds right.... Also had one of those moments on a Mingus Ah Um when I dropped the needle and heard Mingus grunting as if he were in the room playing live...

Agalloch - 7xLP Wooden Box :)* Somehow I stumbled upon it for not very expensive and bought it as quickly as my dirty little hands could find the security code on the back of my credit card. Total dumb luck on that one.

What is that Kyuss vinyl? Never seen that one. Desert Sessions rule. I used to not think so. But then I wised up.
