Eminence?

Post by Rygot »

I know there has gotta be a few people here who use em.

I'm debating which 2 I'm going to get, so I'm asking ILF. (Just like I do with everything else)...

Anywho. Cannabis Rex, Swamp Thang, Black Powder, Wizard. 2 of them, they will be going into a blues deville.

What do you like and dislike about the current speakers? That's the only logical way to choose a new set. I switched out bright speakers for a darker, slightly compressed ones in a couple of my amps (Cate V18 and Carvin X100B) to tame the highs. Those same speakers don't sound good at all in my Valve Junior because it's already dark and compressed because I play it almost wide open.

I love the smell of solder in the morning.

Successful dealings with: blooghost, starcastic, bronzetalon, theavondon, absent, jero, sevenSHARPnine, magiclawnchair, oldangelmidnight, and others that I can't remember lol

I haven't had any of them, but personally I would only double up on the Wizards. Maybe Swamp Things for something super lowendy. Someday I will be getting a 2x12 diagonal and loading it up with a pair of Wizards.

Eminence BASS speakers are great, their guitar speakers are comprable, i would go with celestions for guitar that is, if you have the money!

Is that a stock Valve Jr?

I ask because the well-known mods out there make it *much* brighter. Dangerously bright, in my opinion.

the only new celestion i'll use anymore is the alnico gold (it's an awesome speaker). i have not been happy with new celestions the last time i bought some and have been using eminence ever since.
i think eminence makes better products at this point in time but there are so many options i get dizzy when thinking about new speaks.
anyway.
i have experience with the wizards, guv'nor, swamp thang and i think the big bens (or something like that i can't remember exactly).
i dig the guvnor and wizard the most but as it's mentioned elsewhere, your needs are important when choosing speaks. what you do and do not like in your current set up is the starting point.
it's all subjective anyway......
