I got the megalith. It's an incredible pedal. There's a Ruckus at DiPinto guitars in philly for 100$ used right now..! :omg:

I went ahead and emailed Alan about a megalith . Asked about the release of the magnetar and how the two compared while I was at it :thumb: .

I have a Ruckus on my board...it's awesome and one of the best values out there. It sounds a lot like my Fingerprint though, (which is a good thing), but I don't really need that kind of crossover, and the FP has a little more range if needed. The Ruckus is killer though.

I put in an order for a Freq LSD a few weeks ago. it looks/sounds like it going to be insane.

the other ones he has listed on his space sound sweet too,
like this one:

DECOMPOSER- For those you looking to dissolve, rip apart and melt the sound of your guitar this pedal is for you. You know that sound you get when you shut off your tube and continue to play while the caps discharge? That's one of the sounds you can get from this messed up fuzz machine. Some settings even work well on bass! Finalized, will post a photo and a price for it soon, hopefully a video demo for it soon as well.

Any body other than Newark have anything to say in regards to comparing the megalith to the meathead/dlx meathead? Probably going to have both soon, and I'm kinda wondering how redundant it would be.

I think the meathead will have less bass. Wayyyy less. It's tighter sounding, while the megalith sounds more sludgy. IDK though. Also, the meathead is fuzz face based while the megalith is muff based (me thinks). Should be pretty different beasts. Obviously both would/could work well with drop tunings.

So I heard back from Alan (that was quick!) and this is what he said on the Magnetar matter:

"I'm still working on finishing up the prototype for the Magnetar. I've been slowing chipping away at it in between orders. Hopefully, I'll have it done in about a week, after which I can put it through its paces on a couple different amps and make any changes if needed. The Magnetar is definitely a different beast than the Megalith, its got a very synth like texture and a gating effect that still allows for decent sustain but keeps things tight and silent when not playing. The low end and power it has is intense."

So, read that last sentence, & keep in mind it is being said loosely in comparison to the megalith...   . Looks like I'll be waiting and getting this mamma jamma.

He means Supermassive Black Hole. Alan licensed this circuit to Devi Ever for a couple years, and she released it as the Bass Fuzz first, then the Supermassive Black Hole. Now that the circuit has reverted to Alan, he's making it into the Magnetar.

True that. It's all about the huge box omega w/ expression though.

Oh, just in case you guys haven't seen this:
MOUNTAINKING ELECTRONICS AT PHILLY F/M FEST!
"Hey guys,
The Philadelphia Film & Music Festival is having a trade show at 2424 Studios (located @ 2424 E. York St. in the Fishtown section of the city) and I will have a table set up with my full line of pedals--including 7 brand new additions to the line!
It's happening September 25th & 26th from 11:00 A.M. to 7:00 PM; stop by, say hi and check out the new pieces. I won't be selling any pedals but will be there to show the new gear, answer questions, and hopefully have some demonstrations. There will also be bands performing, record vendors, and it's FREE!
