It's well known that the overall capacitance of a cable can very well make it sound different (more or less high-end roll-off) from another cable. There's nothing cork-sniffer about that.
But you really don't need to spend more than $50 or dollars to get well made, low-capacitance cable (if you prefer that sound). That was my point in starting this thread.

from my guitar to pedals: $25 Monster Cable from pedal to pedal: the cheap Hosa cables from pedals to amp: planet waves cable that says amphenol on it (i got it for free)
i would really like lava cables, but i'm a poor engineering student

Oh, no you're not, christian acoustic soundguy.
I got a special Fender Bass cable (I don't understand why it is foor bass ) That I run from my bass to the pedals, then mostly cheap patchcables from pedal to pedal. From Pedals to amp I have Planet Waves.. I don't hear much of a difference between the cables, but the cheap one's I have to solder almost every month, so I use the more expensive one's cause they save me money on the long run
About four years ago, I bought some 21' Monster cables. The cheapest ones. I'm hard on them, and they break, but I just turn them in for new ones the next day. I bought three cables four years ago and that is it. When I got into effects, I bought a pack of no-name colored patch cables from eBay. Whenever I needed another patch cable, one mysteriously would come my way. I think I've paid around $60 ever for cables.
Butch from Bayou Cables is making me one I should be getting very soon. I currently use Monster Bass cables. I can't wait to A-B them. I will post results.
when I re-did my pedal board. I diy'd some cables from radio shack connectors and some random cables I had lying around. sounded like total ass. I couldn't get a decent connection to save my life. I have a gig tonight so I had to fork over the 70 bucks for a planet waves solderless kit to fix all I had fucked up.
board sounds great now though. :P

I only use Planet Waves because of the warranty. Seriously, they are great cables and you can't go wrong with lifetime replacement.

I haven't broke mine yet and I go pretty rock&roll on them!
